Thank you for your interest in our CNA program! Prerequisites for enrollment The student must have a minimum of an 8th grade reading level, complete a self-reading test and complete and sign the Student Program Application.
The student must provide or purchase their Criminal Background History (CBH).
The two options available are as follows:
After the student completes the CBH process and submits a completed application, Hans Medical Institute will collect the $250 registration fee that is non-transferable/non-refundable according to our refund policy and complete the Hans Medical Institute Enrollment Agreement.
(The registration fee secures a spot into the class date of the student’s choice). *All student candidates must possess a record of good legal standing as required by Michigan Public Act 27-29 of 2006.
The following criminal histories will likely disqualify a student from participating in the clinical component: Any pending charges Convictions/deferred adjudications involving crimes against persons (Physical or sexual abuse, neglect, assault, murder, etc.)
Convictions related to moral turpitude (prostitution, public lewdness/exposure, etc.) Convictions/deferred adjudications related to the sale, possession, distribution, or transfer of narcotics or controlled substances
Registered sex offenders
Prerequisites to attend class
Registration fee must be paid in full no later than the Friday prior to the first day of class with tuition paid in full by the Friday of the second week of class.
A current TB Test MUST be completed and submitted no later than the Friday prior to the first day of class. If the student fails to provide a current TB test prior to the first day of class, the student will not be able to attend the scheduled class and must pay a $25.00 rescheduling fee to be rescheduled to a later class date. (All refund policies apply in the event the student fails to pay the rescheduling fee and/or reschedule the class).
Equipment furnished by the student
White shoes (black shoes with subsequent color is not acceptable).
Notepad(s) and pen/pencil for the first two weeks during lecture and lab.
Pocket size notebook for the third week during clinical rotation.
Watch with second hand.
TB Test (valid for one year). The TB test may be done by your family physician, local medical clinic or your County Health Department.

TB Test cost (Approximate cost $15.00-$25.00)
State Exam $176.50. The state testing fee of $176.50 is not included in the cost of our program and is paid by the student prior to taking the state test after completion of the CNA course. The student will have up to 2 years to schedule their test.

EMERGENCY CANCELLATIONS AND CLOSINGS
Hans Medical Institute emergency cancellations and closings are posted on the College web page and messages are on the main phone line 616-2040-4651. Current students with Hans Medical Institute can also sign up to receive phone text messages and voice mail in the event of an emergency or inclement weather situation.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive a certificate of completion that verifies the student has met the requirements set forth by the State of Michigan and is eligible to take the State Certification Evaluated Nursing Assistant (CNA) test.
